Jukka is a well seasoned rider, who has been snowboarding for 14 years and sponsored for the past four.
Hailing from Finland his talents span the entire spectrum of the sport from street rails to backcountry booters. If he can’t tell the difference between a duff product and a peach then none of us can.
What is it that you specifically like about your board?
It is a twin-tip board and really fun to ride. It’s durable and looks good.
What is the story about the board’s graphics?
I know this girl in Finland, Paola Suhonen, who used to be a pretty good snowboarder herself and now she is designing super cool clothes etc in Finland. I’ve always liked her style and she has her own brand called Ivana Helsinki.
Then my friend Jari Salo, who has been doing board graphics for Option and Burton, scanned Vienna’s fabrics and put it onto the board how we thought looked good. I’m stoked how it came out. So it’s a Scandinavian style fashion board for parks and pipes but works in backcountry too. It’s a camping theme on the board and I like camping.
Do you change boards for rails, pow and park?
I have a shorter board for street rails but I ride everything else with the Transit 162
What angles do you have on your bindings?
+18 and –6
Are your boots hard or soft?
I like crazy soft boots. New boots are always pretty hard so I am twisting and rubbing new boots to make them softer.
Do you like to ride with your laces tight or loose?
I do tighten the laces hard on the ankle part and the rest I leave pretty loose. When the boots are getting softer I tighten more.
Hood up or down?
Pants high or low?
Jacket open or closed?
Closed or without.
Head Transit 162
Head PX 7
Nike ACG storm fit 3 in 1 jacket
Nike ACG Trooper V pant
Chosen goggles? And favourite lenses to wear in all-round conditions?
Anon goggles and Solex lenses are perfect.
What do you wear as an underlayer?
Boxer shorts and the super comfortable Nike first layer stuff. I’ve always had basic boxers until I got some high tech boxer shorts so that my butt is not always wet and I’m so stoked.
