After a very busy filming season with the Almo film crew, Sylvain Bourbousson is not even taking a break from work: he’s building his house by the beach, to make sure he gets some surf in every day back home from this summer on…
Where are you at and what are you doing?
I’m in Biarritz, I bought a house and now I’ve been working on it for the last 2 months pretty much. It’s a bit long, but thankfully my friends are helping me out a lot. Especially Mathieu Crepel and Gamin!
Is this all your program for this summer?
Well I need to finish it all now, I want to live in it as soon as possible. For now I’m just enjoying some local surf sessions when I’m bored and want to take a break, or go out late afternoon at the beach and enjoy the crazy sunsets.
Are you type of rider who likes to go back on his board during summer to keep the pace, or the one that loves to take a proper break and do other things?
A few seasons back I always needed to ride the glaciers all summer, you know, when I was young haha! Now I prefer to rest my body a bit and take it easy. Well when I can! And then I always enjoy an early season trip to South hemisphere, around August or September, when I have the opportunity.
So when you’re not on trip or riding, what other things do you do in summer?
I like to travel, whether it’s for snowboarding or not, and I love surfing. That’s also why I bought a house here! I guess the best thing to do for me in the summer would be to set up a snowboard trip on the other side of the planet, where I can also enjoy some surfing. That’s the real must innit! But for now, I need to finish this bloody construction work…
The new Almo movie ‘Drole de Vie’ is at editing right now, what do you think about what you already saw from it?
This movie is going to be crazy, the guys were super motivated all winter and there’s a lot of good footage. Plus with the winter we had, the conditions were really perfect, so I have great hopes for it. Morgan Lefaucheur and Mathieu Crepel are also taking part in the editing, so I’m not worried at all, it’s gonna be good!
Can you let a couple of hints out?
Get ready to see some tits and ass! haha
So did your heavy summer work left you some time to think about next season?
Not really, as I said I’d love to do a trip end of summer in the South hemisphere. I want to keep training with surf and bike, then go on the snow as soon as it dumps in Europe.
Is there a place in the world you think ‘damn, I missed that, never went there snowboarding’?
Yes! I’ve never been to Japan and I want to go there so badly. I can’t even believe I’ve never been to this snow paradise, can you? Hopefully this winter! Otherwise I’d love to go back to Iran, that was one of my favorite trip for sure.
We are cooking Victor Daviet’s interview at the moment, is there one question you’d love to ask him?
Yes, Victor, how bad would you like to be red head? Haha
