Jonas is that kind of guy that you would like to snowboard with all the time. He is always in a good mood and rides with a smile on his face. No matter what the set up is, he will not hold back and go big, regardless of if he is doing a tech or a style trick. – Gian Simmen

So. Why snowboarding?

Snowboarders were the cool guys for me when I was a child. I loved watching them shredding and I wanted to do the same. So I put my skis in the corner and started with snowboarding. That was the best decision ever.

Who were the riders that influenced you when you were a grom?

I looked up to guys like Kilian Wiget, Dominik Betschart and all the dudes from the Mythenpark team. Also pros like Nicolas Müller and Torstein Horgmo.

Date of Birth: 5. April 1995

Stance: Regular

Hometown: Rickenbach, Switzerland

Local Mountain: Mythenregion (Mythenpark)

Years Riding: 11

Sponsors: Salomon Snowboards, Protest Boardwear, Smith Optics, Level Gloves, 360° Shop, Gummilove

What movie did you watch over and over as a kid?

Many, mostly the movies from Factor Films, Absinthe Films and the Burton Movies.

How did you get your first sponsors?

I think my first sponsor was Adidas Eyewear. I just sent them my dossier and they gave me some goggles.

What tricks do you LIKE to do, and what tricks do you do because you HAVE to?

It’s not really the tricks, more the conditions. It’s not always so much fun to send some technical tricks on ice or in really bad conditions. You have to do it because you want to do good at the contest. But I like to try some new tricks and push myself.

Have you travelled much?

Yes, I have been travelling a lot this winter. I went to the United States, Turkey, Czech Republic, Austria, France, Italy and Belgium. I definitely liked Colorado – Keystone was so sick. My favourite places are Livigno, Keystone and my home resort, Mythenpark.

How was it to have the chance to shoot with Werni Stock and the Pirates?

It was definitely a super cool experience. So much work goes into filming and you have to be on point like at the contests. I never went up on the mountain so early in the morning, but the shots were worth it. Werni is one of the nicest people you could ever meet and an awesome shredder!

What’s up with your banana wrist?

All straight again!

Whose riding stokes you out these days?

I like the riding of Mark McMorris. It‘s just so clean and effortless.

What one trick would you put in Room 101?

I’m kind bored of mute grabs. I like to see tricks with some different grabs.

How much time do you spend on the internet?

Definitely too much. If I have nothing to do I’m always online.

Do you plan to abuse your position as a snowboarding professional to score chicks and party like Rick James?

Maybe a little bit? Haha, but that‘s not really my goal. I basically just want to snowboard because I love it so much.
