Onboard: Forum or Against’em was one of the heaviest hitters last season. How you gonna top that?
Brian Knox: Every time Forum releases a new video we set out to make the most progressive project. We all work our ass off the entire winter to make it better than the last video released. We have to push the limits with snowboarding, filming and editing. I feel very confident that FOREVER will not disappoint. It was all about colour last year. This time round it’s all black and white intros in the teaser and the logo gives out the brown noise. What gives?
We always need to change things up and progress. Forum is not going to release the same kind of content/feel two years in a row. The color is bronze, not brown, that you are seeing. We are using bronze in all movie marketing this year. What can we expect from Forever Forum? Sum it up in a nutshell.
You can expect creative, progressive, fun snowboarding. We all started snowboarding because it’s fun, and now we need to bring the fun back into riding. The Forum Team is good at having fun, while also getting creative and working hard to progress their skills. One of the highlights of last year’s film was Jake ’45-minute’ Blauvelt. We heard Blauvelt was injured for a chunk of last season. How’s he doing?
Jake is doing well. He only had about five weeks to film his part this year, but he does have a part and learned a few new tricks so you can look for that. Next season he will be back on his 45-minutes of footage without a doubt.Who are you backing to have the opener and ender? Or if you can’t say, whose footage has gotten you most amped?
John Jackson, Nic Sauvé, Eddie Wall and Pat Moore all had a season without injuries and got amazing footage. Unfortunately, Peter Line fractured his back, Stevie Bell broke his ribs and chipped a bone in his shoulder, and Jake Welch had a shoulder injury. They have sick shots, just not what they are capable of doing if they were healthy all year.Where was the film mainly shot? And how were conditions?
For urban riding we found a few new spots in the U.S., Canada, and a location in Europe. For backcountry we were mainly in the U.S. this past winter. When you watch the movie I’m sure you can figure out the locations, or at least by my not saying exactly where they were it will keep you guessing.Young Norwegian loose cannon Daniel Ek has a part this year. What was shooting with that loon like?
Daniel is always amped and loves to snowboard. This was Daniel’s first year in the backcountry and he did very well. He did not focus 100% on his film part, though, since he was doing a few contests this past season as well. Daniel is not scared, that’s for sure. When can we expect the film to drop? And do you have a European tour planned again like last year?
We are planning on an end-of-September release. I’m sure we will do some kind of Europe Tour again. The team loves Europe.Happy days, thanks Brian. Stay tuned to Onboard for more on the movie and its Euro premiere dates, and check out the teaser right there…
