Before trying this, you should be able to do Fs 180’s over kickers and switch 50-50’s on rails comfortably. You should also be comfortable gapping the flat part of the rail to the down part. All you then have to do is combine the three!Approach the rail at a speed that will get you on it (maybe a little faster). You ride up the kicker pretty much flatbased, putting on slight pressure on your heel edge for the 180 rotation.Pop off the kicker and start spinning the 180, but remember to keep your eyes on the point of the rail where you want to land.
Once you land on the rail, keep your weight balanced and your shoulders square to the rail. Otherwise you will keep on spinning, and will sketch out into a boardslide thingy.
If all goes well you will be sliding down the rail switch. Focus on your landing point, land switch and ride it out.
Handplants are fun, stylish if done well and will get you chicks. Or guys. Former Swedish team coach Andreas Aavik talks you through three different variations as performed by Swiss stylemaster Markus Keller – also known as our favourite rider at the Olympics, bar when Shaun White tweaked that frontside 5.
Word Fresh, Gs. Back-to-back 1080s are all fine and dandy, but going for a burn and busting out flatland tricks is one of the funnest things you can do on a shred stick, and will improve your board control too. Get buttering that muffin!
