It’s official: turntablism is back! Birdy Nam Na performs with French DJs Crazy B, DJ Pone and Little Mike on one side, and the turntablist world champ DMC on the other. Composed with 4 turntables and multi-track software, this album is a technical masterpiece. Between abstract hip-hop, trip hop, electro and jazz, the album represents a new way to make music. Unlike what the Executioners or other DJs have produced in the past – mainly scratches and instrumentals – this is the proper creation of beats through the use of turntables. You can feel a real jazzy influence through the mixes (‘Kind Of Laid Back‘), dominated by heavy drums and loud base guitar. On occasion, they even exploit drum’n’bass in ‘Jazz It At Home’ and pop music in ‘Abbesses’.
