My name is Pia Kaipainen and I work as the Marketing & Team Coordinator for Europe at The Program*. Our brands include Forum Snowboards, Special Blend clothing and Foursquare clothing. I began working for The Program* in March -06 and so far am loving it. I’m originally from Finland but have spent the last 11 years more or less travelling & living abroad. I have had the privilege to spend some time in Arlberg, Fernie & Whistler Canada, and many other amazing places around the globe.
Organising the That Euro tour has so far been the most challenging and coolest project I’ve done. We did 5 countries & 6 tour stops in 10 days: seeing a lot of hotels, parties and stoked kids. The tour was a huge success and phrases such as “the That video is TOO good” were heard along the way -> and I’m not referring to any of our own troops here… We had a great crew on the road consisting of Lauri Heiskari, Iikka Bäckström, Pat Moore, Eddie Wall, Travis Kennedy, Kareem ElRafie from the riders plus Jon Weaver (the European Team Manager), Jenner Richard (The Global Team Manager). JP Walker joined the crew in Barcelona, whereas Travis & Eddie travelled back to the States to get ready for the 1 month long US That bus tour.
As the winter is hitting us up soon; there are lots of events coming up. Was at the Kaunertal opening last weekend and next week I’m gonna head to Les 2 Alpes to check out the Mondial du Snow. There’s gonna be a Burton rail contest, and 2 of our Euro team riders: Peter König and Kareem ElRafie have been invited into it. I’m sure the boys will be shredding like there’s no tomorrow as they are on a serious roll now: with Kareem having a part in the That video and Peter becoming the first European rider in the Global Youngblood team!
Well – more about Mondial and other stuff laters. Take care kiddos!
