Ain’t mountains BRILLIANT?!
Jamie Nicholls remembers…
“The second day in Solden was an up and down day. The day got off to a bad start as the sled broke down and we couldn’t hit the jump. The sled soon was fixed and the session started. I had a good session on the jump but not as good as the first day in Solden. Ben had a bad start falling on the jump and scraping his face down the landing, but he was soon ok and did some beautiful frontside 360s for the camera. We were all tired that day but at the end of the day we went and hit up a wallride under the gondola. This was amazing to film and shoot on and we ended on a high getting some more great shots.
Knackered we rode all the way down the hill at the end of the day through a LOT of grass and mud which was pretty funny – ready for a Wellness session and a massive dinner at the Hotel Tyrol.
Top o’ the world.
Day 3 in Solden, woke up to see a naff weather but that didn’t nearly put us off having an epic day. We started off on the glacier where we spotted some a pretty cool rock ride that I tried to nose press a few times. It was super fun but for shots it came out looking really small so after a few attempts we abandoned it and moved on. We went right up to the top of the glacier to check out this sky walk that stuck out of the top of the mountain, hanging over the valley below really cool but not ideal for anyone who’s scared of heights. We had a ride down from the glacier which was sick as there was loads of fresh powder, but it was so cold so we decided to head back down to the park. I hit up some bright orange fence jump which looked rad it the shots Rudi took.
After a nice lil session on the fence Rudi the photographer heard word of a wall ride further down the hill so we went to go hit it up. At the spot we had just finished shaping the landing when Rudi saw a cat driver who hooked us up nicely by pushing all the snow for the jump for us. We ended up having a sick session with a few of the local shapers – the hotel owner was sitting outside the restaurant having a drink and watching the riding go down. Got the wall ride dialed which I was pretty stoked on.
Spazza and the wall.
We finished up the day with an epic meat feast steak and pork steak pizza and watched Tim down 4 litres of milkshake. Tomorrow we leave at 6 am to go home – totally bummed Solden ruled.
