But I won’t complain at all (even though it is 2 o’ clock in the morning right now and I’m really, really, really tired) as I’m sooooo stoked on being part of this trip! Ahhhhhhh!!!! And if I wouldn’t sit in a super posh hotel lobby in Spokane/ Washington, I would scream a real “Ahhhhh” when I think about the girls I will be riding with: Anne-Flore Marxer, Hannah Teter and Donna Carpenter, Jake Burton’s wife! It was Donna’s idea to organise this “girls trip” to the infamous Baldface Lodge up in the mountains that surround the little town of Nelson, B.C (where we will be heading to tomorrow). In total there will be 24 women from all around the world – Burton team riders, ladies staff and journalists. Maybe one or two men for our personal massage services? Haha, just kidding but not the worst idea, eh?
At the moment I can’ t tell you a lot as I have never been to B.C, nor the Baldface Lodge but I can tell what I heard about it and in a few days you and me will know if it is all true: The Baldface Lodge is located on over 2000 meters and you only get there with a helicopter ride from Nelson (if the weather is bad, they take you over the lake with a boat and than give you a 1,5 hours cat ride through the snowy mountains. Once there you sleep in one of the nice, little chalets, get waked up with fresh coffee at your door every morning, go for breakfast in the lodge all together, get out to the three cats at 8 and start the day (there are no lifts!). The cats will take you wherever you want and a guide will make sure you even get the most secret runs scored. Once you enjoyed the first run in waist deep powder, you won’ t see a hallucination due to extreme stokeness but the cat waiting for you taking you up again and again and again… Sounds like a dream, right? Well, at the moment I can’ t help myself but think that I’m still dreaming! I bet riding the first line through fresh Canadian pow pow is like poking yourself in the arm and being awake…
More news coming up soon!
